POINT RUMMY: The Fast-Paced Card Game of Strategy and Skill

Point Rummy is an exhilarating and fast-paced poker game that combines strategy with decision-making skills. Players aim to meld their 13 cards into valid sequences (both pure and impure) and sets, making use of wild cards to enhance their combinations. With every round, the game challenges players to draw from the deck and discard wisely to minimize points while working towards their winning hands.

Game Setup and Objective

  1. Game Initialization:
    • Players participate for points, which have a pre-determined rupee value.
    • Each player must bring a minimum amount to the table.
    • A toss determines which player takes the first move.
    • Players are dealt 13 random cards from the deck.
    • The first card from the pack is placed in the open deck, indicating the start of the game, while the remaining cards are kept face down in the closed deck slot.
    • A joker card is randomly selected at the beginning of each game.
  2. Understanding the Joker:
    • If a printed joker is selected, players can also use Ace cards of any suit as jokers in their sets or sequences.
  3. Game Objective:
    • The main goal is to arrange all 13 cards in hand into valid sequences and/or sets.
    • Players take turns picking a card from either the closed or open deck, then discarding one card to build their hands.

Playing the Game

  1. Turn Sequence:
    • Players can use one or more jokers to complete their sets or sequences.
    • To declare their hand, players must group their cards into sets or sequences and click the “Declare” button.
    • Players are required to declare at least two sequences, one of which must be a pure sequence, to finish the game.
  2. Rules for Valid Sets and Sequences:
    • Cards cannot be used more than once in a set. For example, using the same card multiple times in a set like 7♠ 7♠ 7♥ is invalid.

Scoring in Point Rummy

  1. Determining the Winner:
    • The first player to meet the game objective wins, earning 0 points.
    • Players who drop the game on their first move receive 20 points each, while those who drop after their first move receive 40 points each.
    • If a player declares without meeting the game objective, they receive 80 points, and the game continues until a winner is declared.
  2. Point Calculation for Losing Players:
    • Each card has a specific point value:
      • Jacks, Queens, Kings, and Aces of any suit are worth 10 points each.
      • Numbered cards carry points equal to their face value (e.g., 7 is worth 7 points, 3 is worth 3 points).
      • Joker cards have zero points.
    • At the end of the game, the losing player’s score is calculated based on cards not grouped into sets or sequences:
      • If a player has no pure sequence, all cards are counted toward their score.
